Strawberry Agua Fresca (Printable)

Fresh strawberries and lime blended with water and sweetener, strained and chilled for a bright, cooling drink.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

→ Citrus

02 - 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from 2–3 limes)

→ Sweetener

03 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

→ Liquid

04 - 3 cups cold water

→ Garnish (optional)

05 - Lime slices
06 - Fresh mint leaves
07 - Additional strawberries, sliced

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Hull and halve the strawberries if not already prepared; measure 2 cups and place them in the blender.
02 - Add the strawberries, lime juice, sugar, and 1 cup of cold water to the blender. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth.
03 - Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, using a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible; discard the remaining pulp.
04 - Stir in the remaining 2 cups of cold water, taste, and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more sugar or lime juice to preference.
05 - Refrigerate the beverage for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors, or serve immediately over ice if serving right away.
06 - Ladle into glasses and finish with lime slices, a sprig of mint, or sliced strawberries as desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It looks and tastes so vibrant, people always think you spent way more time on it than you did.
  • Even picky drinkers can adjust the sweetness and tartness to their liking.
02 -
  • Forgetting to strain the mixture once led to an unexpectedly chewy surprise—don’t skip this step unless you’re longing for texture.
  • Chilling makes all the difference; lukewarm agua fresca isn’t nearly as refreshing as you’d hope.
03 -
  • Always taste before chilling—flavors mellow as it rests, so a slightly bold mix at first ends up perfectly balanced.
  • A fine mesh strainer makes the difference between a silky-smooth fresca and a pulpy distraction.
